Alexandru Ghildus

Graduated from the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts (presently the National University of Artsin Bucharest), Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design, Bucharest, Romania, 1979.

From 1990, lecturer (and later the Dean) at the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design, the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania, 2004-2012.  PhD in Visual Arts, 2007

Design Expert of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, Helsinki, Finland, 1999. President of the Romanian Artists Association, 1999 – 2002. President of the Professional Designer Society of Romania – UAP, 2005.

He has received many honors and awards for his work, including Knight of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity, bestowed by the President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Azeglio Ciampi, 2005, and “IN HONORIS” degree awarded by Bucharest City Hall for “contribution
to city life”, 2009.

He has participated in several important exhibitions and contests, both national and international, including the Osaka International Design Competition, Osaka, Japan, 1985;
the International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa, Kanazawa, Japan, 1990; European Glass Context, Bornholm, Denmark, 2008.

He has been granted individual exhibitions in Romania, Greece, Austria, the USA, the Netherlands and in Germany.

He has organized cultural events throughout Romania and internationally , and initiated the establishment of the Goldart Gallery and Auction House, Bucharest.

He is interested in modern communication systems.
