Design by Pejga – Magdalena Pejga
I like to invent little functional forms. I like to make them... In my childhood I built castles with tall towers and drawbridges from wooden blocks. Now from pieces of glass I construct stemware, candle holders and decanters.
Creating large sculptural forms or architectural objects for interior design from glass, I have to be precise and focused. In „constructing" functional glass objects I can let myself go: freely mix colours and shapes, without worrying about proportions and dimensions.
Each of my utilitarian objects is a small sculptural form. There are no two identical glasses, decanters, or candlesticks. And although they differ from one another, they retain their function.
I don't limit my imagination – I stick pieces of glass together and stick on further pieces of glass. Like building blocks. Then I engrave them ferociously.
My utilitarian works are recognisable. It is very pleasant to hear, „Aha, those are Pejga glasses".
