Tamás Ábel

Graduated from the glass design class in the Secondary School of Visual Arts, Budapest, Hungary, 2010. Graduated with a Master of Arts in glass at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest, 2015. In 2012, he studied under the Erasmus Program at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallin, Estonia. Member of the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists (MKISZ), and of the Hungarian Glass Art Society (MÜT).
He participated in the Budapest Art Mentor mentorship program, 2018–2019. He has received several prizes: Sanssouci Junior Glass Match – the Special Prize, Karlovy Vary, the Czech Republic; Hellodesign Talent Award in Audience Choice category, Hungary, 2016. He was awarded a grant from the National Cultural Fund of Hungary (NKA), 2017.
He has participated in 2 solo exhibitions in Hungary: Társalgó Gallery, Budapest, 2017; Supermoon, the INDA Gallery, Budapest, Hungary, 2019, and in about 38 group exhibitions in Hungary and abroad, including: the Stanislav Libenský Award, the Queen Anne’s Summer Palace, Prague, the Czech Republic, 2013; Transparency, the Balassi Institute, Brussels, Belgium, 2015; Hungarian Contemporary Art, the National Art Museum of China, Peking, China, 2018; New Glass Now, the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY, the USA, 2019; Taking Off, the Glasmuseum Lette – Alter Hof Herding (the Ernsting Foundation), Coesfeld, Germany, 2019.
His works are featured in public collections in Hungary and abroad, including: the Laczkó Dezső Museum, Veszprém, Hungary; the Ernsting Foundation, Alter Hof Herding, Coesfeld.
The main motive in ÁBEL’s art is the rainbow, which symbolizes the equality, tolerance, and harmony.
