Valmantas Gutauskas

Graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts (MA), Kaunas Art Faculty, Department of Glass, Kaunas, Lithuania,1986. Gained further experience at the hot glass studio of the Royal Danish Academy, Bornholm, Denmark, 1993. Worked as a product designer at the Aleksotas glass factory, Kaunas, Lithuania, 1986–1995.
Established the glass studio at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Art Faculty, 1993, and remains there to this day as a professor and the head of the glass programme.
Participated in many exhibitions in Lithuania, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Latvia, Estonia, and Germany.
Works in the collections of the Museum of Applied Arts and Design, Vilnius, Lithuania, and the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung Collection, Munich, Germany.
One of the leaders of the architectural glass movement in Lithuania, creator of monumental lighting design projects in public interiors in Lithuania and abroad. He creates figurative compositions in cast and cold-worked glass, taking personal histories as his starting point.
